Aviemore is a thriving town, with a high street packed with various shops, restaurants and pubs, which will fulfill all your needs on your self catering vacation to the area.

Eating Out


Aviemore has a wide range of restaurants available. There are traditional Scottish restaurants such as the Old Bridge Inn and the Cairngorm Hotel which serve quality local produce, such as Venison and Highland beef at excellent prices. There is also an Indian, Chinese and Australian themed restaurant if you are looking for something a little different! A number of cafes are also located along the high street, which are relaxing places to stop by for a snack or a drink.


If you are interested in participating in sport and leisure activities in the Aviemore area, there are a number of facilities available. The hard court tennis courts just off the B970, heading towards Coylumbridge, can be used by the public for a small admission fee. There are also a number of green spaces to play football and other sports aswell as the Dalfaber Golf and Country club which is a few minutes’ walk from the house and can also be accessed for a small fee. The country club has indoor courts for squash and badminton, a pitch and put golf course and a swimming pool.



The centrally located Tesco is a great place to pick up any any essentials when staying at Carns. Alternatively you can order home delivered products from the Tesco Extra just outside the city of Inverness. There are a number of mountaineering shops along the high street with are fully stocked with all equipment you would need for any adventure activities. There are several other shops which are useful such as the local post office, a Boots chemist and WHsmiths.
